Maison Martin Margiela Pre-Fall 2014

Aug 15, 2014

When Magiela first announced his retirement from his own brand, we were literally heartbroken and we did not believe much that his successor could deliver the same attitude throughout the collections as he used to do. This Pre- Fall collection somehow changed our mindset.

This season lookbook is a harmony of women's modern garments with Renaissance inspired shapes, the signature Margiela distortion and sculptured element, of course, remains. Here, you will see lots of crispy shirts, gray mixed-knit sweaters, khaki outerwear (military outfits), cotton canvas trench coats, oversize pants, tailored looks and functional outerwear with masculine details. It almost feels like the girl is playing around in her boyfriend's closet and see if his things suit her. Good news: She feels totally cool with it, she is in control of these boyfriend designs.

Dark tone for fall season may not be the most favorite appetite for many people but we say keep it classic keep it minimal; because when you already focus on the cutting and silhouette, too much bold colors could kill the looks.
