Logo Givenchy

Hubert de Givenchy’s eponymous house has long been the arbiter of quintessential French elegance. In 1954, Givenchy became the first designer to present a collection of luxury women's ready to wear clothing. Among his many contributions to the fashion world were the "Bag Dress", the "Enveloped Dress" and the funnelled collar coat. His work was both audacious and elegant. Current designer Riccardo Tisci’s apparent fascination with gothic touches and space-age minimalism have drawn attention to the brand lately. The Givenchy Brand continues to be revered internationally as the "Ultimate in Chic".

Givenchy menswear was relaunched for Spring 2005 with Saville Row tailor and fashion designer Ozwald Boateng at the helm. For Spring 2009, the task fell upon womenswear designer Riccardo Tisci, who brought the sleek, darker themes prevalent in his women's collections to the traditionally more conservative menswear division.
